Level 1 Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health

This awareness course is suitable for everyone as it provides learners with the knowledge to recognise a suspected mental health condition and the skills to start a conversation and be able to signpost a person towards professional help. All members of the public can benefit from this course and it is a great stepping stone into First Aid for Mental Health.
Course Summary

Mental health is an increasingly prominent issue in organisations around the world, with a recognition that poor mental health can negatively impact on our health, wellbeing and productivity. With around 15% of us experiencing mental health issues in the workplace, many businesses are looking to provide support through awareness training and other schemes.

This course is an introduction to the issue of mental health in the workplace, with the aim of providing learners with basic skills to identify and address problems. Successful candidates will be able to identify suspected mental health conditions and will have developed the skills to start conversations and signpost colleagues towards professional help.

As a basic grounding in how to acknowledge and address issues of mental health in the workplace, the course is suitable for any and all employees across a range of industries. Rather than creating a culture of vigilance, Level 1 Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health training aims to build understanding among colleagues, and create a more positive and open climate around mental health.

Course Content

A range of First Aid for Mental Health related subjects are covered, including:

    • What is First Aid for Mental Health?
    • Identifying mental health conditions
    • Providing advice and starting a conversation
    • Stress and anxiety
Certification
Upon successful completion of the qualification assessment, Learners will be awarded the Ofqual regulated Level 1 Award in Awareness of First Aid for Mental Health (RQF) This qualification is valid for three years from the date of achievement. It is strongly recommended that the learner attends annual refresher training. The learner will need to complete the full course again to requalify for a further three years.
