Level 2 Award for Personal Licence Holders

This qualification is aimed at individuals working in, or preparing to work in, any industry that involves the retail sale of alcohol. Anyone wishing to sell or authorise the sale of alcohol by retail on licensed premises must hold a personal license.
Course Summary

This 1 day course allows holders of the qualification to apply for a personal licence under the Licensing Act 2003 (England and Wales) which allows the holder to sell or authorise the sale of alcohol on licensed premises. Successful candidates will gain an understanding of the application process for a personal licence, the legal duties of a personal licence holder and the role, responsibilities and functions of licensing authorities

Course Content

The course covers the following topics:

  • The licensing authorities
  • Responsibilities of the personal license holder;
  • Police powers; rights of entry
  • Specific prohibitions
  • Strengths of alcoholic drinks
  • Responsible retail of alcohol
  • Protection of children from harm.
Certification
On completion of this course, candidates will hold a licensing qualification with which they can apply for the Personal Licence.
